Several visa categories fall under the UK points-based system (PBS) including the Skilled Worker visa, Global Talent visa, Innovator visa, and Start up visa. If you have been granted or are in the process of applying for a points-based visa, you may be able to bring your partner and/or children to join you in the UK on a Family member of PBS Migrant visa. Successful applicants for this visa will be permitted to live, work and study in the UK with few limitations.
With a long list of eligibility criteria and a complicated application process that requires extensive supporting documentation, we recommend you seek legal guidance when applying for a PBS Dependent visa. At Lexus Law, we have the experience, expertise, and emotional understanding to assist families with UKVI applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which family members are eligible for a PBS dependent visa?
To apply for a Family Member of PBS Migrant visa, you must be related to the main applicant in one of the following ways:
- Spouse
- Civil partner
- Unmarried partner
- Child under 18
Parents, grandparents, siblings and adult children of the main applicant can’t apply for a PBS dependent visa.
How much does it cost?
The application fee for a PBS dependent visa depends on the main applicant’s visa category. You can see a full list of the Home Office’s immigration fees here. The dependent applicant fees are the same as the main applicant.
How long can I stay?
In most cases, the PBS dependent visa grants family members leave to live and work in the UK for the duration of the main applicant’s visa. If the main applicant has indefinite leave to remain (ILR), family members will be granted a stay of up to three years. After this point, it’s possible to apply to extend your stay. You may also be able to apply for settlement, but we recommend seeking legal guidance before pursuing a settlement application to ensure you meet the strict eligibility criteria.
